Australian Values

Learn Australian values and your safe path to citizenship.

The course is designed for both ‘would be’ migrants who are only intending to apply for an Australian visa and those who have their visa granted and are already in Australia. The course will assist newcomers in different ways.

First, migrants will know what the Australian values are, what conduct is proper and what conduct is unacceptable or even illegal. Secondly, knowing what type of behaviour is wrong, new arrivals will learn to assist other members of their communities so that they are not involved in criminal activity. Third, this course will inform migrant communities about what happens to law breakers and what the negative consequences of not being of good character are, such as visa cancellation, detention and possible removal from Australia.

The course is intended to make Australian communities safer through warning new community members of the repercussions of improper conduct. Its also intends to show that the state has a reciprocal relationship with the new community members. They are given all the opportunities to prosper in Australia but they must obey the law.

The course was designed by Diverse Australia Inc and is free for everyone. The development of the course was funded by the Commonwealth of Australia as part of the Fostering Integration Grant Program that is administered by the Department of Home Affairs.
